AFC wins 2020 Pro Bowl while Jaguars players make lasting impression - Big Cat Country

Putting a bow on the 2019-2020 NFL season for the majority of NFL players, all three Jaguars Pro Bowlers made game-changing plays in today’s, 38-33 AFC victory.

Two first-time Pro Bowlers, Jaguars defensive end Josh Allen and wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. accounted for a touchdown, and a sack respectively, with fifth-time Pro Bowler Calais Campbell contributing with a sack/fumble which ultimately led to an AFC touchdown, putting the game away. Allen also contributed today with a blocked extra point in the third quarter.

As a result, Campbell won the AFC’s defensive MVP with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson winning offensive MVP for the AFC. The Jaguars entered the game with three Pro Bowl nominations, however Campbell was the only initial player from Jacksonville to make the roster. Chark Jr. made the team via third alternate with Allen making the team as a third alternate.

In the third quarter with 1:52 left on the clock, Chark Jr. hauled in a short pass from Titans quarterback Ryan Tennehill before taking it to the house for a 60-yard touchdown, giving the AFC a 31-27 lead, the AFC would not surrender the lead from that point forward.

Shortly after Chark Jr.’s touchdown, Allen made his presence felt by recording a sack on Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins with 14:26 remaining in the fourth quarter. Allen led all rookies in sacks this season with 10.5. The Jaguars rookie also recorded a blocked extra point during the third quarter of today’s contest.

While speculation remains regarding the future status of Campbell on the Jaguars roster, his game-changing play in the Pro Bowl should give perspective as to how dominant of a player he really is. With 10:49 remaining in the fourth quarter, Campbell recorded a sack fumble on the NFC’s Kirk Cousins, effectively sealing the victory for the AFC and securing all players on the winning squad $70,000 to go home with.

Overall, Allen finished with two tackles, one sack, one quarterback hit, one tackle for loss, and a blocked extra point. Campbell finished with one tackle, one sack, one quarterback hit, and one forced fumble, while Chark Jr. finished with two receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown on the day.

The Jaguars football season is effectively over with no remaining games or All Star games remaining in the season. With work to be done during the offseason and major decisions to potentially occur, the path to the NFL draft and free agency begins now.
