Comedian and entrepreneur DNA pretends to hold up the DNA’s Comedy Lab and Experimental Theater marquee on Front Street in downtown Santa Cruz. A long-time fixture on the revolving Santa Cruz stand up scene, DNA and his business partners in 2019 invested in a brick-and-mortar location in the former Riverfront Theater. With a mission to build community through laughter, this weekend marks The Comedy Lab’s one year anniversary. The venue has three stages and an expansive lobby with a piano, café tables, and concessions, which include organic popcorn, a café menu with vegan options, locally crafted beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages.
Comedy shows spotlight stand-up, sketches, improv, live pod casts, storytelling, magic, puppetry, award ceremonies, movie riffing, game shows, and original theater. From big name comedians to next wave talent, The Comedy Lab brings quality live entertainment to downtown Santa Cruz, and also opens its doors to community events.
