Kiss icon Gene Simmons got emotional as he paid tribute to his late friend Eddie Van Halen on Wednesday's Good Morning Britain.
The musician, 71, admitted he was 'devastated' after hearing news of the rocker's passing at the age of 65 on Tuesday, following a battle with throat cancer.
Gene wore a hat and shielded his eyes with a pair of sunglasses as he claimed he would be 'bawling his eyes out' if he didn't cover up during the interview.

Referring to Piers Morgan, who had showed a clip from when he interviewed Eddie in the past, Gene said: 'Look today you show videos of you and Eddie and that’s wonderful, its interesting, and I talk about how I helped record their first album but I was just there in the beginning.
'But, it ain't about us, sadly the good die young and I am devastated by this.'
Talking about his attire for the interview, he went on: 'People may say it's part of the rocker facade wearing this hat but if I took this off then I would be bawling my eyes out, I’m devastated.
'There are so many good people in the world who should still be here.'

Paying an emotional tribute to Eddie, he added: 'You seldom meet a beautiful soul, I’m not talking yours truly, I couldn't sign Eddie's shoes.
'I fell prey to ego and fame and all things like that and I never saw Eddie fall into that and the self-aggrandisement etc. it was all about his music... not since Hendrix, Eddie changed the world.
'Eddie van Halen never said a bad thing about anything... when I heard the sad news, the first thing I thought of was his smile, which might seem strange.'
Tribute: Gene said, 'There are so many good people in the world who should still be here'
Tearful: Gene went on, 'sadly the good die young and I am devastated by this'
Gushing about Eddie's talent as a musician, Gene went on: 'He played emotionally and taught himself, what you saw this phenomenon that was Eddie was self-taught.
'I was there in the beginning and saw the phenomenon that was Eddie. It was exciting and that's what was... sorry I'm getting quite caught up here... man’s best friend is a dog but clearly Eddie’s best relationship with a guitar.'
Eddie passed away at at St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica, California with his wife Janie, his son Wolfgang and brother and drummer Alex next to him, according to TMZ.
'I can't believe I'm having to write this but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning,' Wolfgang said in a tweet.

He added: 'He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I've shared with him on and off stage was a gift....My heart is broken and I don't think I will ever fully recover from this loss.'
Eddie, who never really learned to read music, had a sudden decline in health in the past 72 hours, according to TMZ.
His throat cancer had reportedly gone to his brain as well as other parts of his body, it was added, and the site said that he had been 'in and out of the hospital over the past year.'
Veteran rocker Eddie was diagnosed with cancer nearly 20 years ago and had been traveling between the United States and Germany for treatment.
