Kopelman and Barrymore ultimately decided to split in 2016 after four years of marriage together.

The two announced the news with a joint statement, but also shared that they were trying to emphasize family throughout the process.

'Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family,' the couple said.

The couple still maintains to co-parent their two girls Olive, eight, and Frankie, six in NYC.

Speaking about her initial attraction to Will, Barrymore revealed it was not a cosmic sort of love.

'Will struck a lot of my pragmatic sides...He was someone who was always reachable on the phone, someone who was a classy human being, someone who has this incredible blueprint of a family that I don’t have,' she said.

'I know everyone says you’re supposed to put your coupledom first. But I really love it being all about the kids,' she said.

She continued to share that she is not sure if love is in the cards for her again though she is finally at a happy place in her life with her career and her children.

'I don't know how to open that up again. It's like something closed, and it stayed closed. I think I'm equally as scared to find love again as I would be as if it never happened,' she finished.
