  • Here, you’ll discover everything there is to know about the awards show, including who's nominated.

The CMT Music Awards have always been a highlight for country stars and fans. While the much-anticipated night of music is typically held in June and kicks off Nashville’s famous CMA Festival week, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s show is set to air on October 21, and it will be a socially-distanced, pre-taped virtual event with live snippets throughout.

Although the format of the show will be different than what fans and performers are used to, it’s set to be a wonderful night nonetheless. After all, it’s a time to recognize the best performers in the industry while giving fans even more entertainment to get through these truly unprecedented times. With that in mind, we’ve gathered everything you need to know about the awards show, including everyone who’s performing and nominated. There's even a brand new category for "best quarantine video"! Check it out below!

Who is hosting the CMT Music Awards?

This year’s show is set to be hosted by country singers Ashley McBryde (who is actually nominated for a few categories), Kane Brown, and actress Sarah Hyland. All three hosts are first-timers, so it’s sure to be memorable.

What channel are the CMT Awards on?

As you may have guessed, the CMT Awards will air on CMT—the Country Music Television channel—at 8 p.m. EST. Of course, if you don’t have CMT, you can still join in on the fun by tuning into the show online at CMT.com.

Get excited! This year’s lineup is more impressive than ever with performances by Brooks & Dunn, Dan + Shay, Ingrid Andress, Jimmie Allen, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Maren Morris, Morgan Wallen, Sam Hunt, Shania Twain, and more. Yes, really—more! And given past shows, there’s a good chance that a few surprise performances and collaborations will be sprinkled in, too.

Fans seem to be particularly pumped up about Shania's rare appearance, and they took to Twitter to share their excitement ahead of the show:

"Can't wait! Excited is an understatement for me," said one fan, while another added, "I will be there!!! You don’t have to tell me twice!!"

Another added, "I'm wondering what song you're going to perform!!!! I know it will be a fantastic performance, because you are the Queen of Country/Pop who knows how to WOW an audience."

Who’s presenting?

You’ll notice more than a few familiar faces presenting this year’s awards. Prepare to watch Brandi Carlile, Demi Lovato, Diplo, Idina Menzel, Jessica Chastain, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Rob Thomas, Tanya Tucker, and Taylor Swift announcing the night’s wins.
