Breon Pass: I want my lasting legacy at Reidsville to be paving the way for the youth - HighSchoolOT

Reidsville senior combo guard Breon Pass made his commitment to North Carolina State University on Saturday, Sept. 26. He chose the Wolfpack over ECU, Georgia Tech, and Providence last weekend. Pass has built a strong relationship with Keatts since his freshman year of high school, which was one primary reason why he chose the Pack.

Hello, everyone. And welcome back to high school. T I'm Zach Adams, and I'm joined this evening by Regional Senior Guard and recent NC state commit Brean Pass. Thanks for joining me this evening, Brie. On having me. No problem. So, uh, anti state ended up being your college decision over E c u, Georgia Tech and Providence. Just what was it about? The Wolf pack and the program that head Coach Kevin Keats has, you know, began to build that stood out to you in particular, I really just, um, Coach keys. And the coaching staff is much, um, that's really just the whole communities where the fans, It's a good. It's a good atmosphere for me as well. It's ah, perfect fit for me. So how long has your mind been set on anti state of being your college of choice? Um, I'll say, um, it been for, like, 1.5 months. You know, men, coach keeps and my family. We had a bit Zoom called. We talked about my plan, my future for N. C. State, and I just fell in love with it. So you decided to commit on Saturday, September 26 just I tell everyone why that date was so significant. Thio, You and your family Dad's birthday, you know, So I wanna be Oh, and I feel like he's very, um, excited for my decision. So since the announcement was made that you would be focusing on basketball over football at the next level, I believe that was made on June 1st. But just how have the conversations changed since that decision was made in June with some of the other schools that were trying toe, I'll get you to come play for their program. Um, really changed a lot, you know, um, putting my all in one sport will help me out a lot. Really? My my mindset, as far as my my strength, my body and so like, really changed a lot because, um, schools like asking what I gonna play football basketball in college. So when they all went and that's my decision, that's when they all was all in it, and to me, and my recruiting process was like blowing up because so this may be a bit of a deeper question, but just how would you describe your basketball journey today? Um, it's been it's been It's been a hard process, you know. But really, because I'll say that because I haven't put my all into like basketball because I have football on the side. So really, um, it's been a long process for me, you know? But you know what my dad always say? Trust the process of hasn't been trusting the process and really just, um, long nights. I've been the gym all all day. Every day I'm in the gym, you will never see me in a gym. So I think really just helped me Really just grow so a better person and a better player. So you went on an instagram live video to I commit the NC state and who were some of the family or friends that got to enjoy that moment with you yesterday afternoon? My, uh, my family, my, my grandma on both sides of family. My grandpa, my uncle, my eye and some of my close friends were there also that I have grown with since I was young. So that's really ah, bit more for me and my family. So, to NC State fans that might not know too much about your game, just how would you describe your playing style? Night in, night out. I'm a hard working, you know. I don't bad back from competition. I like challenges. Um, I love energy. I'm high energy person. I bring excitement to my game, and I'm not loser. I love winning. So you did mention that about a month and a half ago. You or your family and coach Keats. I did have a big zoom called with what you can say here on this interview. Just how does Keats and his staff I believe that you're gonna fit into that quote unquote puzzle once you arrive on campus in Raleigh. Um, Coach Keith man, we built a bond since Pressure Year. Even my dad, they had a close bond together. You know, um, it's gonna be really bad for me and my family as well, so I'm looking forward to it. You know, uh, even coach keeps is a is a wonderful coach, Coach Johnson, because Robinson and rest of the staff, you know, they saw me major love, and I'm just ready to get there, so I know a back in June when we spoke, you would still planned on playing both football and basketball. That was before everything got changed. So is that still on the table for you to come early next calendar year? I'm definitely playing my last year of football and basketball as well. Looking for that third arena football healthy. Get basketball as well. Eso Who are some of the other players still undecided in the class of 2021 Or maybe even the next graduating class that you would like to see join the pack? Um, definitely. We're trying to get Jonas, you know, trying to get Jonas and my boy deonte green in 2022. Last question here, Briana eso When you're thinking big picture, Just what do you want your lasting legacy to be at read school? High school? Um, I wanna really just like I said on my twitter, you know, I want to pay the way for the youth. I'm sorry about you that no matter where you at, you know you can make it out long as you put your mind set. And really just, um, put your hard work into on into it all and, like, stay on the right path and I want my legacy to be really just um, you can face adversity. You know, uh, coming from my dad passed away and I'm still here. You know, I'm still here ground every day. Like it's my last, you know, put everything on the line and sacrifice.
