Blac Chyna accuses NBC of racism amid ongoing 'Rob & Chyna' lawsuit - Page Six

Blac Chyna is calling out NBC for alleged racism just one day after Gabrielle Union filed a discrimination complaint against the network.

Chyna, 32, sued the entire Kardashian family in October 2017, claiming they interfered with her show “Rob & Chyna” and caused producers and the network to cancel it — which she says caused her substantial damages. The lawsuit came one month after Chyna’s ex-fiancé Rob Kardashian and his sister Kylie Jenner sued Chyna for battery after she allegedly tried to choke him with a phone charger cord.

Now, in a statement to Page Six, Chyna’s attorney, Lynne Ciani, claims the Peacock network never informed Chyna or her team of any allegations made by the Kardashian family — and that things wouldn’t have been handled in the same manner if Chyna was white. (Neither NBC nor E! are listed as part of Chyna’s lawsuit.).

“No one at NBCUniversal ever informed Chyna that Kris Jenner had secretly accused her of severely beating Rob. Next, without Chyna’s knowledge, Kris Jenner and three of her daughters (Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner) were able to convince E! executives that they needed to convene an emergency meeting to discuss the cancellation of Season 2 of ‘Rob & Chyna’ based on the false accusation that Chyna had severely beaten Rob,” Ciani told us.

“NBCUniversal executives never invited Chyna, the allegedly violent cast member (and also an Executive Producer of ‘Rob & Chyna’), to the emergency meeting.”

Ciani also claims that NBC executives “never viewed the existing unaired Season 2 footage … that conclusively proves that Kris Jenner lied when she claimed that Chyna had ‘beat the [expletive] out of Rob’s face.'”

In her previously filed lawsuit, Chyna, who in the past alleged that Rob punched her, claimed the cancellation of her E! reality show greatly impacted her financial livelihood and now says NBCUniversal deprived her of “due process.”

Chyna and her attorney also suggest in their new statement that “had Chyna been a white reality TV star, rather than the ‘unicorn’ black reality TV star,” then Jenner “either never would have been made in the first place or her false accusation would have been quickly investigated by E! and NBCUniversal and proven false …”

Ciani went on to claim that the three white “executive-level decision-makers at the E! Network and NBCUniversal … completely denied any due process to their black reality TV star regarding the fate of Season 2 of ‘Rob & Chyna.'” She also urges the company to diversify its executives to “reflect the diversity of its talent.”

The Kardashian-Jenner attorney, Marty Singer, blasted Chyna for leveraging “the emotions and pain of the moment” of the ongoing protests.

“This its a 2-year-old lawsuit in which Chyna has changed her defense more times than we can count,” Singer told Page Six in a statement. “Sadly, unsurprising to anyone, she has stooped to a new low, changing her defense to try to leverage the emotions and pain of the moment, insulting the pain and suffering of real victims of racial injustice and systemic racism.

“We take these allegations very seriously and once again, there is no ‘Rob & Chyna’ show if there is no Rob & Chyna.”

NBC didn’t immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

Chyna was originally scheduled to appear in court on May 26, but it was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her new trial date will be determined later in June.
