The Serie A campaign of EA7 Emporio Armani Milan and Virtus Bologna was one of the longest in all domestic leagues across the Old Continent.

BasketNews calculated the duration of the basketball season for the top 9 European domestic leagues and the most well-known leagues worldwide.

The data reveals that Europeans play the longest basketball season, with a staggering 3.5-month difference between the longest and shortest seasons in the top global competitions.

The Spanish, French, and Adriatic League teams had the longest season.

Their campaign lasted 266 days, starting from the first regular-season game until the last match of the final series, which amounts to 8 months and 24 days.

The Spanish league began on September 28 and concluded on June 20. The ABA League battles lasted from September 30 to June 22. Prior to that, the French championship began on September 23 and ended on June 15.

The seasons in Spain and France could have been even longer, but Barcelona and Monaco swept their opponents, winning the title in the shortest possible way.

Among the top 9 domestic leagues in Europe, the shortest season was played in Israel, with a duration of 250 days (8 months and 7 days).

For comparison, this year's NBA season was shorter than any other top domestic league in Europe, lasting 238 days (7 months and 26 days).

G League has the shortest season among the strongest professional leagues worldwide, which concluded in 154 days (5 months and 3 days). The Australians were very close, as the NBL championship lasted 5 months and 15 days.

These statistics do not include preseason camps. In Europe, some clubs started their preseason camps in the first half of August, extending the entire season to nearly ten months.

Four teams from the EuroLeague, Real Madrid, AS Monaco, FC Barcelona, and Zalgiris Kaunas, played more games than 14 NBA teams that failed to qualify for the playoffs.

AS Monaco and Real Madrid topped the charts by playing the highest number of games across various competitions, including their respective domestic leagues, domestic cups, and the EuroLeague, with each team participating in a total of 88 games.

Just to put things into perspective, the NBA team that played the most games had 107, while Japan's top team played 67, the G League had 54 games, China had 53, and Australia had 36 matches.
