Jeremih makes strides toward recovery as he's transferred out of the ICU... after being hospitalized with severe COVID-19 symptoms

  • The R&B singer's family say he has now left the intensive care unit, TMZ reports
  • He'll now recover in a regular hospital room after battling COVID-19
  • News broke on Saturday that the star had been hospitalized due to the coronavirus and was 'on a ventilator'

Jeremih looks as if he's making progress on his recovery after leaving the intensive care unit.

The 33-year-old R&B singer's family told TMZ on Saturday that he was being transferred to a general hospital setting for less severe illness.

His condition had looked dire earlier this week, after it was reported that he had to be put on a ventilator.

Jeremih's family sounded upbeat, and they're expecting the 'true healing' to begin now that he's out of the ICU.

Although he's well enough to leave the ICU, where people with the most severe COVID-19 cases are cared for, they haven't shared much about his current condition.

It's also unclear if he's still positive for the coronavirus, or if he may have any long-lasting symptoms of the illness.

Many people who have recovered from COVID-19 have repeated lingering symptoms for weeks or even months, including persistent coughing and trouble breathing, which could be devastating for a singer like Jeremih.

His representatives also haven't state how he might have contracted the coronavirus, though a statement said there's 'no shame' in contracting it, while underscoring that everyone needs to do their part to not spread it.
