Amy Adams tells critics of Hillbilly Elegy the movie 'transcends politics'... after the film was skewered for its sloppy depiction of poor Americans
Amy Adams has responded to criticism over her new film Hillbilly Elegy, telling audiences the movie's message is meant to 'transcends politics.'
The Netflix film - adapted from a 2016 memoir of the same name - has been panned by critics for what they've called an insensitive depiction of poverty in rural Appalachia.
But Adams, 46, and castmate Glenn Close, 73, defended the Ron Howard project during a chat with NME, telling the site the movie is about much more than just the story at hand.
