As the 2023 FIBA World Cup tips off this weekend, all eyes will be on Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards. Edwards is not only making a name for himself in the NBA but is now gearing up to showcase his elite skill set on the global stage as he hopes to compete at a high level against international opponents.
Heading into the highly-anticipated tournament, Edwards posted a team-best 18.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game to help the United States remain undefeated in five exhibition games. In a recent matchup against Germany, Edwards scored a game-high 34 points including a series of clutch shots to fuel Team USA to a comeback win!

Anthony Edwards is looking to leave a lasting impression in the 2023 FIBA World Cup
Despite playing less than a dozen NBA playoff games in his career, Edwards has compiled 309 points, 44 assists, 17 blocks, and 16 steals in the postseason, and that productivity should translate to the upcoming World Cup. Michael Jordan is the only player in league history who surpassed those marks in his first 11 playoff games.
Edwards will continue to get an opportunity to learn from some of the NBA’s premier coaches and play alongside a slew of talented teammates on Team USA, highlighted by New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson, New Orleans Pelicans small forward Brandon Ingram, Memphis Grizzlies center Jaren Jackson Jr and more.

Team USA is scheduled to open the group stage against Team New Zealand on Saturday at 8:40 AM, followed by a battle with Team Greece on Monday morning and a matchup against Team Jordan on Wednesday.
