Glass table leaves a lasting impression: Moreland Hills Police Blotter - cleveland.com

MORELAND HILLS, Ohio

Road Hazard: Ellendale Road, Chagrin Boulevard

A resident called to report that a glass table had fallen out of the bed of her truck around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 25, shattering all over the roadway.

About 10 minutes later, another caller reported that everyone trying to direct traffic around the glass shards was wearing very dark clothing, making it difficult for drivers to see them.

By that time, officers were on the scene, and the table purveyor soon swept the glass off the roadway, planning to return in the morning to pick up the big pieces.

Protection order violation: Chagrin Boulevard

A caller reported on the afternoon of Sept. 21 that he had a temporary protection order against his wife, who was now at Brady Middle School trying to pick up their children. He said the children were included in the TPO. However, the mother had not yet been served, and when the father arrived at the Moreland Hills police station with the paperwork, he was referred to Solon police.

Theft: South Woodland Road

A resident reported on the afternoon of Sept. 23 that someone could possibly be removing mail from her mailbox. She was advised to put a camera near the mailbox to confirm her suspicion, with no formal report requested at that time.

Utilities (public): Miles Road

A local fire chief reported a major water line break in front of the Look About Lodge that resembled a geyser around 1:15 p.m. on Sept. 20, with several spots and breaks that had water shooting up from out of the ground.

Another break was seen across the street from the lodge, flooding the roadway and leading to high water warning signs being placed in the area about 1:45 p.m., with Cleveland Water Department crews arriving within an hour.

-- Then on Sept. 21 shortly after noon, problems were reported with a 12-inch water main along Miles from Park Lane to Glen Road over the course of three hours, with no further information available.

Car crash, squad call: Bernwood Lane, SOM Center Road

Police were looking for a black BMW after a late-morning crash on Sept. 21 initially reported as a hit-and-run that sent a woman to Hillcrest Hospital with left chest pains.

It was initially reported that the fleeing driver had gone around a garbage truck and wasn’t paying attention, but police later determined that it was actually a white Ford Ranger that rear-ended the woman’s Jeep, with her air bags being deployed. Police added that there was no hit-skip.

Traffic stop: Chagrin River Road

Citations were issued around 9 p.m. on Sept. 24 to the occupants of a car stopped at Preserve Park for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
