Rapper Megan Thee Stallion has added another string to her bow in the form of a major beauty campaign with Revlon - after being named as the newest face of the iconic makeup brand.
The 25-year-old's new role comes just weeks after the chart-topping musician, whose real name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, sustained a gunshot wound and was hospitalized for treatment - and just one day after she spoke out to insist that the traumatic incident won't keep her 'down for a long time'.
And Megan has now made that sentiment crystal clear, unveiling a bold new campaign for Revlon, whose other A-list ambassadors include Gal Gadot, Ashley Graham, and Adwoa Aboah.
Center stage: Megan Thee Stallion has been named as the newest face of beauty brand Revlon
Moving on: The 25-year-old's new role comes just weeks after she was shot during an altercation outside a party in Hollywood
The role is not something that the rapper - who is best known for her chart-topping hits Hot Girl Summer and Savage - takes lightly, with Megan explaining that she wants to use the platform to inspire a 'new generation of women'.
'I’ve always set the bar high for myself with everything I do, but to now be a brand ambassador for Revlon, it feels like a new level,' she said in a statement.
'To me, the Revlon brand stands for both beauty and female strength and I’m excited to help define what that means to a new generation of women.'
The brand has equally impressive expectations for Megan, describing the rapper as 'the ultimate triple threat' in a statement about the new partnership.
'Known for her breakout anthems, including “Hot Girl Summer” and “Savage,” Megan Thee Stallion is the ultimate triple threat: music artist, social media sensation, and cutting-edge tastemaker,' a spokesperson said.
'She continues to set and conquer goals in both music and television with a slew of awards and accomplishments to her name.'
Those successes include a number one Billboard chart spot for her hit song Savage - which quickly became a viral anthem on TikTok, prompting the rapper to record a new version of the song with Beyonce - and a co-host role on HBO Max's new drag show competition series Legendary.
Proud: 'I’ve always set the bar high for myself with everything I do, but to now be a brand ambassador for Revlon, it feels like a new level,' she said in a statement about the role
Goals: Megan said she wants to use the new position to 'help define beauty and female strength for a new generation of women'
As the cherry on top of the cake, Megan is also in the midst of studying for her BA in Health Administration at Texas Southern University.
'Megan is a remarkable talent and we know she’s only going to continue to rise to new heights,' Revlon Global Brand President Silvia Galfo said.
'When we first approached her about a partnership nearly a year ago, we were drawn to her confidence and fierce ambition as much as her power to hold nothing back. She loves to express herself with makeup and is a constant inspiration to her fans on living boldly.
'It’s that authenticity and unapologetic spirit that we admire, and we are thrilled to welcome her to the Revlon family.'
The beauty brand is not the only organization that holds Megan in such high esteem; one day before her new campaign was unveiled, the rapper appeared on the front cover of the Young Hollywood issue of Variety, in which she opened up about the recent shooting that she was involved in.
'I'm not the type of person who can stay down for a long time,' Megan said. 'I don't like to be sad or keep myself in a dark place, because I know it could be the worst thing happening, but the pain and the bad things don't last for long.'
On July 12, the Savage rapper was treated for a gunshot injury at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Hospital following an alleged altercation with rapper Tory Lanez.
'Traumatizing': Speaking about the shooting on Twitter, Megan (pictured in February) admitted that she was 'real life hurt and traumatized' by the shooting
Inspiration: Megan counts Beyonce (pictured center with her daughter Blue Ivy and Megan) as one of her mentors, along with Nicki Minaj
She underwent surgery to remove bullets and/or bullet fragments from her feet and has been recovering ever since.
Lanez allegedly shot Megan in the feet twice after an argument in which she and her friend attempted to get out of the SUV they were all traveling in.
According to TMZ, the group left together from a house party in the Hollywood Hills in the early hours of Sunday morning but Megan, 25, and her friend Kelsey Nicole at some point wanted to leave the chauffeur-driven car.
TMZ claimed Lanez, 27, then opened fire inside the vehicle and hit Megan - who counts Beyonce and Nicki Minaj as her mentors - in the feet twice.
Speaking about the incident on social media, Megan admitted that she was 'real life hurt and traumatized' by the shooting, while hitting out at people who had poked fun at her online.
'Black women are so unprotected & we hold so many things in to protect the feelings of others w/o considering our own,' she wrote on Twitter.
'It might be funny to y'all on the internet and just another messy topic for you to talk about but this is my real life and I'm real life hurt and traumatized.'
