Big Brother: Julie Chen Moonves FINALLY reveals the 16 All Star houseguests plus surprising new twists in the Season 22 premiere

Julie Chen Moonves finally revealed the Big Brother All-Stars cast and shared new twists to the show during its live premiere Wednesday night.

The identity of the show's 16 players had been 'kept under wraps for weeks,' said the 50-year-old host, who seemed giddy at the prospect of announcing their names.

'We have winners,' she affirmed. 'We have legends. We have people who have never won this game, and we've got a few whose games ended far too soon.'

In groups of four, Julie introduced the former BB vets who would be competing on Season 22, among them fan favorites like Nicole Anthony, 25, Tyler Crispen, 25, and Keesha Smith, 42.

Also appearing were past victors such as Ian Terry, 29, and 'villains' like Bayleigh Dayton, 27.

The show's houseguests would be trailed by 94 cameras and 113 microphones, as they played what Julie called 'a game of skill, strategy and social manipulation.'

The winner would be the one who escaped weekly evictions to earn a $500,000 prize.

Julie promised it would be a season like no other, offering innovative twists and turns.

'You've all lived in the Big Brother house before, but none of you have ever lived in this Big Brother house,' she told the houseguests. 'Throughout the summer, new rooms will be revealed to you. And each room will twist up this game like never before.'

The BB22 premiere was filmed live for the first time, though no audience was in attendance.

It marked the show's 20th anniversary, and was only the second time Big Brother producers had filmed an 'all-star' edition, for which fans had been clamoring.

But filming a show in which 16 people would essentially be locked in a house together presented special challenges during the coronavirus epidemic.

In order to appear on the show, the houseguests had been individually quarantined for two weeks, and been tested 'multiple times' for the virus, as had Julie herself.

All had since been cleared to go forward, and though they sported masks when they first arrived at the home, they were allowed to take them off inside.

'I'm just excited to see people!' said Da'Vonne Rogers, 32, from Lancaster, California, who was one of the first to show up. 'I haven't seen people in a long time!'

Each guest was first introduced with an update on their lives since they'd last appeared on BB.

Six of them had become parents after the show ended, while seven of them had married—in three instances, to people they'd starred with on the show.

Social media influencer Nicole Franzel, 28, was engaged to her BB18 co-star Victor Arroyo III, 29, with whom she lived in Ubly, Michigan.

Once they were inside the home, players got their first challenge—they had to find out which room held a specific item, then reveal their answer by sinking a ball in a giant plastic house.

Those who did it in four minutes became eligible for the Head of Household role, which would render them safe from eviction and allow them to put others on the chopping block.

Cody Calafiore, 29, a real-estate agent and BB16 runner-up from Howell, New Jersey, easily won the game and scored the Head of Household job.

Among the other racers, Christmas received $5,000 cash, while Kevin, Ian, Nicole and Memphis got 'have not' cards, giving them the worst room, food and showers for a week.
