Rappers Gucci Mane and Foogiano were named in a wrongful death lawsuit after a 23-year-old woman was fatally shot at a concert held at a South Carolina nightclub in July.
The Greenville News reported Monday (Aug. 31) that a representative for Mykala Bell, the 23-year-old mother of two who attended the concert, filed a lawsuit in Greenville County. According to the lawsuit obtained by Billboard, an altercation broke out by the stage around 2 a.m. and multiple shots were fired. Bell and 51-year-old security guard Clarence Sterling Johnson were the two people shot and killed at the Foogiano concert held at Lavish Lounge on July 5, and eight were injured. Greenville County Sheriff Hobart Lewis said during a press conference last month that the shooting was likely gang-related.
Foogiano (real name Kwame Brown) and Mane (real name Radric Delantic Davis) were among the numerous defendants accused of negligence regarding Bell's death, including WHR Social Club, Inc., an ownership company for Lavish Lounge; club owner Rommie Khalil; an associate of Foogiano, Jarquez Kezavion Cooper; Sierra Six Safety & Security Consulting, LLC, the company that provided security services at the club; and nearly a dozen "owners, managers, operators, independent contractors, and/or security companies."
Police previously charged 22-year-old Cooper in connection to the shooting, and he remained in custody at the Greenville County Detention Center on Monday, according to The Greenville News. The lawsuit alleges Foogiano and his "entourage" were not "patted down" and therefore entered the premises with "deadly weapons."
The suit states Mane is "believed to be a promoter or promotion company" in affiliation with the event at Lavish Lounge but did not state whether he was present.
The Greenville News said requests for comment from Mane and Foogiano's reps were not immediately returned.
